Firebird Diesel Boilers

Firebird Diesel boilers are compact and powerful units, well suited for domestic and commercial central heating systems. Manufactured in Ireland, a world capital when it comes to oil heating, Firebird boilers are leaders in innovative technologies and efficiency, easily exceeding New Zealand’s stringent emission laws. They are the most popular heat source in the South Island and rural New Zealand due to having very reasonable capital and ongoing running costs. The latest condensing range can reduce bills by 20% over standard versions (seasonal efficiency). Biodiesel versions are available.

Description

Diesel boilers are floor standing and typically, they measure 900mm high x 600mm wide x 600mm deep, about the same size as a modern washing machine. All models are flued externally and are convenient to place inside the house due to the compact size and virtually silent operation of the boiler. Typical positions for the boiler are in an attached garage, laundry or cupboard.

Diesel boilers require the installation of a fuel tank outside the house. Local authority laws sometimes require a bund or secondary containment for the fuel tank to be installed as well. Fuel tanks are installed on a concrete pad. A 500 litre tank measures 1200mm x 530mm x 900mm – only slightly larger than a four bottle gas station. Diesel fuel delivery is available in all urban and rural areas in New Zealand.

How do they work?

Firebird boilers used the latest version of Riello Snorkel Burners. They are designed to be installed with a balanced flue. This is a concentric arrangement where the intake of air for combustion is drawn into the burner from around the outside of the exhaust, meaning that the flue has a cool exterior. This enables efficiency of up 90% for the standard version and 96% for the Enviromax Condensing versions. It is smokeless and odorless at the flue terminal with extremely quiet boiler operation.

The boiler is controlled by thermostat programmer located within the house. Being fully programmable, desired comfort levels can be achieved at any time of the day or night. Manual override is a standard feature. This control and the reliability of the boiler ensures a ‘No Fuss’ hands-off heating system.

One Firebird boiler is capable of heating a spa, swimming pool and domestic hot water while also heating the house.
