Product Update: Baxi Duo-tec GA

Developed to eliminate all issues associated with correct commissioning of a condensing gas boiler, this boiler, Baxi created their latest condensing gas boiler: the Duo-tec GA. The GA stands for Gas Adaptive Valve. At the initial start-up, the boiler runs through a sequence that self-determines the type of gas (NG or LPG) and adjusts its gas valve to suit. It then checks its own combustion gas continually throughout operation and optimises the combustion. This is a world first. Other manufacturers have a simpler form of gas adaptive valve, but all require some installer input, except the Baxi Duotec GA.

There are two models available in New Zealand: the 28kW system boiler and the instantaneous combi which has 40kW output to DHW and 33kW output to heating.

Product Update: Variocomp Underfloor Heating

variotherm-300

The Variocomp floor heating system from Variotherm is a revolutionary product consisting of a gypsum fibreboard panel that holds the 11.6mm underfloor pipe. A filler compound is then applied and the floor coverings go directly on top. The finished height build up is 20mm which makes it ideal for retrofit application. Other benefits are its low weight, fast reaction time, and no thermal bridging heat loss. Contact us for further information.

A Fresh Look at Industry Training in 2014

underfloor-training

Our industry training is more popular than ever, and we’ve enjoyed some very successful sessions this past year. Thanks to all of you who joined us.

To better serve the diverse range of expertise and interests of our trade customers, we will be taking a fresh look at our training courses for the upcoming year. Our technical trainer, John, is hard at work devising a new and exciting curriculum that delves deep into individual topics. Keep an eye out for an update to our training page and our next newsletter to get dates and find out more.

Team Member Spotlight: Geothermal Qualification

james-john-ed-lohrenz

One of our engineers, James Steele, attended the recent International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA) training in Melbourne. This was run by geothermal expert Ed Lohrenz from Manitoba, Canada. James passed the Advanced Ground Loop Designers course and is now one of two only people in New Zealand to achieve this qualification. Well done, James.

We hope you all have a good break over the holiday period. Thanks for all your support and loyalty in 2013!

Cheers,

Lyall Smith
