Andy And Nates Entrance Way

There are two weeks left until Three’s The Block NZ live auction. This week the teams had to “step up” to complete the stairwell, entranceway and powder room, the last of the interior spaces.

Andy and Nate created the winning entranceway, stairwell and powder room in what is now the house with the most winning spaces.

Vintage Central Heating Adverts

Vintage Central Heating Advert
Picture the scene. After watching Three’s The Block NZ you have taken the plunge and installed central heating in your home. You invite your friends over to experience whole-home heating. Wanting to appear knowledgeable about your latest investment, you start dropping interesting facts about central heating in between sips of your central Otago pinot noir. After all, you are a now a central heating aficionado.

Here are some facts to help your party banter:

  • The ancient Greeks originally developed central heating. The temple of Ephesus was heated by flues planted in the ground and circulating the heat which was generated by fire.
  • Franz San Galli, a Prussian-born Russian businessman living in St. Petersburg, invented the radiator between 1855 and 1857, which was a major step in the final shaping of modern central heating.
  • Angier March Perkins created the first central heating patent in 1838. His central heating systems were installed in factories and churches throughout England, many of them remaining in usable condition for over 150 years.
  • The Victorian cast iron radiator became widespread by the end of the 19th century as companies, such as the American Radiator Company expanded the market for low cost radiators in the US and Euro.

Take a look at some central heating adverts from yesteryear. They have potential to become prints on your wall, taking pride of place above your newly installed radiator.

Congratulations to Ling and Zing for winning Three’s The Block NZ’s Living Room week!

Ling and Zing Living Room

Mark Richardson started hump week describing the living room as the “liver” of a home. Glad to see this week’s finished rooms are far better than Mark’s Dad jokes. The brief of multiple textures and a customised feature clearly unleashed the contestant’s imaginations.

Ling and Zing demonstrated “advanced knowledge” in layout and design to take top honours. The Christchurch boys certainly created a beautiful room that complements their kitchen and dining. Could this be the beginning of a late charge from Ling and Zing?

Is your living room cluttered? Do you think that installing radiators in your lounge would take up too much wall space? Think again. A vertical radiator may be the perfect solution to your heating problems. Vertical radiators that have been installed with some consideration may save you a lot of space and become a prominent feature in your home. Take a look at these examples which demonstrate space-saving style. We love them and are sure you will too.

Comfort in the Kitchen/Dining

Andy and Nate's Master Bedroom
Pressure was piled onto Three’s The Block NZ teams as they stared down yet another double-room week. The teams were judged on functionality, space planning and clever storage in their kitchen and dining rooms.

Despite budget pressure, the twins, Julia and Ali, created a winning kitchen and dining room combination that was described by the judges as “a real step up from last week, it’s a really nice kitchen and it will be a great selling point on auction day.” Joel Hart’s artwork, which Julia and Ali received for winning the Chameleon Challenge, took pride of place in the dining area above an installed Central Heating New Zealand radiator. We think that’s a win-win situation.

What a week for the twins. Well done ladies.

Andy and Nate's Master Bedroom

Creating a sophisticated, calming hideaway from the world with a wallpaper feature was this week’s brief on Three’s The Block NZ. The enormity of the week was clearly obvious on the teams’ faces as they pondered how to tackle one of the most important weeks on The Block NZ.

Andy and Nate, who possibly have one of the finest views from their master bedroom, put everything on the line to create a winning room filled with bold choices that the judges described as “interesting and courageous”.

Waking up to central heating in such an indulgent room will be a dream come true for House 2’s future owners.

We’re heating the Block NZ…AGAIN!

25 June 2017

The Block NZ’s theme this year is Side by Side; so named for the fact that the teams are working on semi-detached terraced houses that sit side by side. We at Central Heating New Zealand are also very excited to be working side by side with The Block NZ for our second year in a row.

This year’s teams – twins Julia & Ali, brothers Ling & Zing, best friends Stace & Yanita and brothers-in-law Andy & Nate – have been given 12 weeks to finish their three-bedroom, three-storey homes in Auckland. Central Heating New Zealand is working with the contestants to ensure they make comfort a way of life for this season’s lucky home owners.

The next 12 weeks are going to be a lot of fun. Central Heating will be updating its campaign website every week with behind the scenes photography of its products. We will host competitions and have prize giveaways. Visit us here and on our Facebook page to find our more.
