Central Heating Training for Plumbers and Installers

Across the world, hydronic heating is taught as part of a plumbing apprenticeship, however this is not the case in New Zealand and Australia. This means that as demand for comfort and energy efficiency in New Zealand increases, there is a shortage of expert installers.

Our Central Heating Training Courses

To address this problem, Central Heating New Zealand has committed to upskilling the industry. At our training school, we run courses covering heat loss calculation, system design and individual product application. These courses are tailored to suit different segments of the market from plumbers and installers through to specifiers or anyone interested in furthering their knowledge of the industry. We have been running industry training since 2007 and have had over 500 people through our courses.

We are also working closely with the vocational educational sector through our association with Christchurch Polytechnic institute of Technology (CPIT), Manukau Institute of Technology Plumbing and Gas Fitting Training Centre (MIT), and Wellington Polytechnic (WELTEC), donating central heating equipment to assist in establishing hydronic heating into the plumbing apprenticeship curriculum. These associations will pay future dividends in industry knowledge and awareness as more new entrants to the industry within New Zealand are familiar with the concept of hydronic central heating.
