James is the definition of a polite Brit. Quiet, measured, and always ready with a thoughtful nod, he brings calm to every conversation. Originally from Somerset, England, he’s built a strong reputation within the Central Heating New Zealand family as the go-to guy for product knowledge, patience, and pure heating know-how.

With 44 years in the heating industry and 27 of those spent at British Gas, James knows central heating inside out. For the past 11 years, he’s worked across Canterbury, helping homeowners get the most from their systems. He listens carefully, never rushes, and turns complex issues into clear, practical fixes. Customers love James and it shows. His regular customers often welcome him with a hot drink and something baking in the oven. His calm, respectful manner puts people at ease. Even when customers don’t quite know how to explain what’s wrong, like saying “it’s making a weird noise”, James understands, solves it, and leaves the system running just right. One customer said it best, saying, "He is very patient, has exceptional attention to detail, and always cleans up when the job’s done."

It’s not just customers who rate him highly. Our team knows James as a problem-solver with the rare ability to stay cool under pressure. His technical know-how has saved the day more than once. He is also known for consistently high-quality work, a positive attitude, and a friendly approach that makes every job smoother.

Life outside work is just as grounded. James lives the good life in North Canterbury on a lifestyle block with his wife, two cats, a dog, and a few sheep. He is a proud dad of three and a smitten grandad to his 16-month-old granddaughter. When he is not troubleshooting heating systems, you will find him listening to 80s music, playing golf, or keeping his garden in top shape.
